Who am I?
So you wanna know more about me, eh? Here’s the lowdown:
I graduated from a prestigious liberal arts college in 2008 with honors in Environmental Studies. After my new job working at an environmental consulting company in New York came to an abrupt end with the economic recession, I decided to go visit Japan to work for my cousin for a few months and get some perspective. Once I’d left the USA, I realized I didn’t want to go back, and so I decided to keep traveling and saying “yes” to whatever popped up in front of me. I’ve been out of America since December 2008, and have no plans to ever live there again. I’ve fallen head over heels for Australia, and plan on moving here permanently. I currently manage a drumming studio here called The Rhythm Hut, and am slowly becoming a Rhythm Hunter.
I like Taiko drumming, and learning new things, and cooking, and books (and graphic novels!), and giving back massages, and seeing new places, and that moment of serenity that you get sometimes when you’re in a forest and sunlight filters through the leaves and you can smell the earth and everything is still except for the birds. I mostly write about what I see when I travel, but occasionally I go in a completely divergent direction. I am forever struggling to describe the beauty I so often see around me.
I hate impassive people and nuclear waste.
My motto is: Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly.
Here are some posts I really enjoyed writing:
